New Exhibitions, Publications & Opportunities

2016 is shaping up to be a busy year.

After sending Stories Fading Fast on tour throughout Alaska and parts of the Lower 48 in 2014/2015, I had honestly thought that it would be a couple years until I had another opportunity to share my work so widely. Yet, after a couple chance encounters and some amazing opportunities presented themselves, I’m pleased to share several exciting announcements about new and upcoming exhibitions as well as a recent publication:

The Hand: A Magazine for Reproduction-based Art, April 2016

the-hand

Earlier this spring, I entered several of my images from Emblem and Artifice into a Call for Art for The Hand’s 12th issue.  One of my favorite images from the series was selected and published in their April issue.

Irene Carlson Gallery of Photography, University of La Verne: October – December 2016:

Attending this year’s SPE National Conference in Las Vegas was exciting, inspiring and eye-opening for a variety of reasons. I reconnected with a variety of photographic educators, met dozens of new ones and spent several hours discussing pedagogy, artistic passion and approaches to photography. During one such chance encounter, I was able to share my work on Emblem and Artifice with a fellow educator and, through several other well-timed conversations over the course of the last two months, we arranged a solo show at the University of La Verne in Southern California. I will be showing digital reproductions of Emblem and Artifice for this show, which will be part of University of La Verne’s 125th anniversary celebration and part of a set of four shows that focus on the theme of “Tensions and Traditions”.

Gallery 1/1, Seattle, Wa.:

A recent showing of two Emblem and Artifice images at Art Intersection’s Light Sensitive 2016 proved to be equally fortunate. Thanks in part to the show at AI, I hope to soon share details on an upcoming exhibition in Seattle for Fall 2016. I’ll be sharing several original, one-of-a-kind pieces from my Chemigram series in a small group show at Gallery 1/1. Unique in its approach, this gallery focuses exclusively on one-of-a-kind, original prints. I look forward to being part of this exciting concept.

Stories Fading Fast: 625 Sutter Gallery, San Francisco, Ca., December 2016:

Although I am certainly excited for the opportunity to share new work, I am equally delighted to have the chance to share my series of Van Dyke Browns with an even wider audience.  Later this year, I’ll have a solo exhibition of Stories Fading Fast in San Francisco at 625 Sutter Gallery.

Stories Fading Fast: Pacific Northwest Viewing Drawers, Blue Sky Gallery, Portland Or., April 2016-March 2017

Already on display in Portland is a set of 20 images (10 diptychs) from my mining series. Being selected to be part of this show of amazing PNW artists is not only exciting but represents one of my “artist bucket list” items.

As always, enjoy!
