My hard-fought MFA is complete.

Four years ago (nearly to the day) I applied to the Academy of Art University’s MFA Photography program – and today I am proud to say that one of the most difficult, life-altering chapters of my life has come to a close.  I am overjoyed – yet saddened.  The last four years have seen me grow in ways that I’ve never thought possible; I’ve matured as a photographer, evolved into an artist and become an even more passionate educator.  I’ve networked, begun marketing myself and made endearing friendships along the way.  I have an appreciation for continuing education – one that I didn’t start my MFA process with – but now it’s a defining characteristic of who I am.  I look forward to seeing where the next few years will take me as I slowly creep out of the fog that I seem to have been in for the last four years.  I’m back, wide-eyed, and eager to apply everything I’ve learned.

This blog, the associated web portfolio and my outreach on the social medias represent my first efforts post-grad to take what I’ve learned and use it.  I hope that you’ll all enjoy sharing creative moments with me through my continuing blogposts, Facebook and Twitter reveals and occasional video shares of my travels.  Watch for weekly updates here as I continue to incorporate more methods to share what I do with all of you.

Image Notes:  A Van Dyke Brown Print of an Infrared Digital Negative, taken with a modified Canon 30D in July of 2013.  The image was taken in Mint Valley, Alaska – near Hatcher’s Pass.  The infrared image was then modified and printed as a digital negative and then printed in the VDB process with home-mixed chemistry in my personal darkroom.  This represents one of the first efforts post-Thesis to use alt-pro for fun.  Enjoy.
