Visualizing Childhood Memories… (2012)
When reflecting on the memories of our childhood, some of the most treasured memories are those that come from the traditional family road trip. Collectively, the hundreds of miles that stream past our car windows as we listlessly watch the world pass are summed up in but a handful of snapshots that our minds choose to preserve. More often than not, it’s neither the destination nor the people we met along the way that hold prominence within the hazy vestiges of our memory; it’s that sense of childhood awe from exploring the sensational and unknown that lingers with us over the years. Our memory distorts and skews the reality to heighten the experience, but the sense of amazement is encapsulated perfectly for decades to come.
This series explores that sense of childhood awe through exploration of the unknown and how our minds preserve those treasured memories.
